South of Newcastle and surrounding the lake of its name sake, Lake Macquarie is home to nearly a quarter million people. Proclaimed a city in 1984, the area is a mixture of residential suburbs, nature reserves, pristine beaches and sparkling waterways. The area boasts fantastic boating, fishing and maritime activities as well and popular watering holes and famous houses.
